Nicole Manktelow - About me

About me

I am a clinical psychologist deeply committed to creating a space where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered. My approach goes beyond traditional frameworks, integrating a unique blend of schema therapy, AEDP, feminist psychology, and trauma-informed care to address the complex and interconnected facets of personal and relational challenges.

I specialize in supporting people navigating low mood, anxiety, shame, guilt, or a sense of disconnection from themselves, their relationships, or their broader communities. Many of the individuals I work with have received diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, Complex PTSD, or personality disorders, yet I firmly believe that a label defines no one. Instead, I focus on understanding your unique story, context, and aspirations.

I have worked as a clinical psychologist for over 25 years and have worked in community, outpatient and inpatient mental health services with adults and adolescents. I have worked in corrective services and been the clinical director for domestic violence and sexual assault services. I have been teaching and supervising in psychology for over 10 years.

A collaborative approach

It’s important that you and I work together to find what will work best for you.

At the heart of my practice is a commitment to collaboration. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a shared journey guided by mutual respect and open communication. I work alongside my clients to co-create a therapeutic experience that prioritises their voice, values, and goals.

I value authenticity, compassion, and curiosity in the therapeutic relationship. By fostering a safe and non-judgmental space, I strive to empower individuals to explore their vulnerabilities and strengths. My approach is flexible and responsive, ensuring that the process is tailored to your unique needs and circumstances.

Collaboration also means acknowledging and honouring the broader social and cultural contexts that shape our lives. By integrating these perspectives, I aim to support clients in navigating systemic challenges while building resilience and agency. Together, we can cultivate a sense of empowerment and possibility for meaningful change.

The therapy…

With training in evidence-based treatments like CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, AEDP and as an internationally accredited advanced schema therapist and supervisor, I tailor my approach to align with your values and goals. My practice is also informed by critical feminist, queer, and attachment-based perspectives, allowing me to honour the impact of cultural, social, and relational dynamics on your well-being.

I am particularly passionate about helping individuals explore the interplay of emotional and physical needs, the formation of identity, and the development of a fulfilling and authentic sense of self. Together, we will work collaboratively to uncover insights, foster growth, and create meaningful change in your life
